September School Holiday Pre-Tryout Player Development Sessions
Presented by Waverley Falcons & Fusion HP

These September school holidays, Waverley Falcons and Fusion HP offering two high-quality development sessions to help junior representative athletes prepare for the upcoming VJBL 2025/26 season. The program combines basketball-specific strength and conditioning with focused on-court skill development — all in a competitive and supportive environment.

Held on Tuesday 23 September and Tuesday 30 September at Waverley Basketball Stadium, these sessions are designed to reflect the structure and intensity of a special VJBL training night — while also introducing athletes to new and advanced elements they may not experience in a regular team setting. The sessions are structured in blocks grouped by VJBL 2025/26 age groups to ensure each athlete receives age-appropriate instruction, support, and feedback.

Each session is delivered by experienced and qualified Fusion HP Strength & Conditioning coaches, who will lead the athletic development component of the program. The basketball skills segment will be coached by Mason Forbes, Waverley Falcons’ NBL1 import. Mason brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and a high-performance mindset — offering players a unique opportunity to learn directly from one of the league’s top athletes.

For Under 12 and Under 14 athletes, each session includes a 45-minute introduction to strength and conditioning — covering warm-up routines, movement activation, foundational exercises, testing, and movement activities — followed by a 60-minute individual skill development session. This includes key fundamentals, scoring concepts, and decision-making drills, all tailored to support the demands of representative basketball.

For Under 16 and Under 18 athletes, the offering includes a 60-minute S&C block designed to help players build strength, agility, and injury resilience through structured movement and performance exercises. This is followed by a 30-minute on-court segment focused on volume shooting and competitive play — providing older athletes with the reps and intensity needed to sharpen their edge heading into tryouts
